Biden Calls for Peaceful Protests Over Tyre Nichols

President Biden has joined with family of Tyre Nichols in urging protesters to remain peaceful.

In a White House statement, Biden wrote;

Thank you @POTUS for extending your condolences to the Nichols family as they grieve the horrific loss of Tyre and supporting them in their quest for justice. #JusticeForTyreNichols pic.twitter.com/k3fEDgzgfT

Later President Biden tweeted;

Jill and I extend our hearts to the family of Tyre Nichols – they deserve a swift, full, and transparent investigation.

Tyre’s death is a painful reminder that we must do more to ensure that our justice system lives up to the promise of fairness and dignity for all.

The 29-year-old Nichols was fatally beaten by five officers during a Jan. 7th traffic stop. The officers have been arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

Many are concerned protests could turn violent after video of the incident is released to the public on Friday evening.

Tyre Nichols was killed at the hands of Memphis police during a traffic stop. Nichols was hospitalized by 5 Black officers and later passed away. Police footage will be released today, to gain more truth in this horrible murder. Rest in Power, Tyre Nichols. #BETRemembers pic.twitter.com/gDMUKc6G93
