The Keith Whitley Memorial Concert is to honor the artistic contributions to Country Music from Keith Whitley as a songwriter, performer, Husband, Father, and his history from growing up in Kentucky playing Bluegrass and Country Music. He started playing music with his brother and father in a family band. He then started a bluegrass group with Ricky Skaggs.
Keith Whitley recorded only 4 albums during his young career and died at the age of 33. The concert was held at the CMA Theater at the Country Music Hall of Fame. Artists paid tribute to Keith Whitley and his music, each singing a Keith Whitley song backed by the Lorrie Morgan Band. Lorrie Morgan hosted this event along with her son Jesse Keith Whitley.
