March 5, 1983: CMT Launches, Playing 24/7 Music Videos

Country Music Television (originally known as CMTV, later changed as it was too close to MTV) first broadcast on this day in 1983.

CMT’s first video clip to hit the air was a performance Faron Young’s “It’s Four in the Morning.”
